You all loved the affordable Thanksgiving menu so much that I turned it into a Christmas challenge. I could really feed 8, stay under $60 and keep it as a traditional dinner? Yes, yes, I can! The entire Christmas dinner ended up costing $55and every single dish seems worthy of a holiday without the holiday price tag.
This is the season to not spend a fortune
Let’s be honest, Christmas dinner can go from “few ingredients” to “how did I spend so much” faster than the kids tearing up wrapping paper at 6am. I wanted this menu to have the flavor of Christmas without requiring a second mortgage or a cart full of specials you’ll never use again.
How to keep it under $55
Skip the “holiday add-ons.”Cinnamon star butter, imported cranberry chutney and delicious snowman cheese are not necessary for joy.
Buy store brand. No one will taste the label. They will taste the butter.
Stick to the list.If it’s not written, he won’t come home.
Keep one main course, not three.Ham wins for flavor, leftovers and price.
Use multitasking ingredients.Butter, broth and spices are spread on the dishes at no additional expense.
Don’t chase “specialty.”If you never use it again after December 25th, it won’t be able to come to the party.
Store-bought victories
You don’t get bonus Christmas points if you roll out the dough by hand at 5 in the morning. A few store-bought items keep the day calm, the oven free, and, well, you can spend your hard earned cash on a gift to yourself instead.
Get the rolls, get the cranberry sauce, get a ready-made dessert if you want, and get on with the other recipes! It still tastes like Christmas and you still get the credit.
This honey glazed ham is covered in delicious brown sugar and sweet honey glaze! It’s tender and juicy and goes with everything making it ideal for any holiday meal!
1-hour bread rolls are the perfect solution for making fresh bread in an instant! This simple and delicious recipe will become your new favorite recipe, just in time for the holidays!
A classic layered Christmas jello salad with red, green and creamy middle layers. Easy to make, wonderfully festive and perfect for holiday gatherings.
