If you grew up in Utah, chicken pillows were pretty much a weeknight tradition. Creamy chicken wrapped in warm crescent dough is the kind of cozy comfort children love and adults secretly crave.

Because this Utah classic strikes again
- Nostalgic comfort: The buttery crescent dough and creamy chicken filling give you that classic Utah-style coziness in every bite.
- Suitable for children: The simple flavors and fun “pillow” shape make this an easy weeknight dinner that will appeal to even the pickiest of eaters.
- Easy weekly night: Minimal ingredients, quick prep, and everything cooks in the oven for an easy dinner.
Ingredients for the chicken pillow

- Crescent rolls: Refrigerated dough makes this recipe easy! I also like to use crescent sheets. Simply cut the pastry into 8 even squares before joining them.
- Chicken: Canned or rotisserie chicken is a great alternative!
- Breadcrumbs: You can use plain breadcrumbs or panko. Add flavor with 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning if using one of these options!

- Milk: If you prefer, add a drop of milk for a thinner sauce.
How to make chicken pillows
This chicken pillow recipe is my favorite when I don’t have dinner planned. I keep crescent rolls on hand because this is my girls’ favorite recipe. And there’s almost always cooked chicken in the fridge or freezer.
Chicken Pillows
- Chicken preparation and filling: Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray 2 pans with nonstick cooking spray and set aside. In a medium bowl, add shredded chicken, cream cheese, green onion, and garlic powder.
- Combine and open: Mix the chicken mixture well until well combined. Next, open the crescent rolls and separate the triangles.
- Fill the pillows: Place about 2 tablespoons of chicken mixture on the wide end of the crescent roll.
- Sealing cushions: Fold the sides of the dough over the chicken mixture, then roll the roll into a crescent shape. Pinch the dough around the chicken mixture to seal it completely. Repeat the method until finished.
- Coat cushions: Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl for about 40 seconds. Pour Italian breadcrumbs onto a plate for easy dipping! Dip the top of each chicken pillow into the bowl of melted butter, followed by the Italian breadcrumbs.
- Baking: Place the coated chicken pillows on the prepared pan. Cook for 10-15 minutes or until chicken cheeks are golden brown.

Chicken gravy
- In a small pan, add cream of chicken soup, milkAND sour cream. Heat and stir over medium heat until thoroughly heated, about 5 minutes. If necessary, add more milk to reach the desired density. Serve the sauce on the side or pour it over the hot chicken pillows and enjoy!
